Force 内力
Force (内力, nèilì) is the power behind the internal arts. A few Grey nanites seeded into a body join it instead of consuming it. They grow a conductive lattice along the body, the meridians (经脉), and store charge in a core in the belly, the dantian (丹田).
Officially these are just “internal arts”. Seeding is banned for commoners.
| What the swarm does | What it does in the body | Wuxia name |
|---|---|---|
| Lays carbon down as fibre | A conductive lattice along the fascia | Meridians 经脉 |
| Harvests and stores energy | A charge core fed by your metabolism | Dantian 丹田, Force |
| Signals the rest of the swarm | Links with your nerves and neural port | Mind moves, ghost sense |
Two axes
The Force system has two separate axes:
| Axis | What it decides | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Three Treasures (精气神): skills | How strong your moves are | Skill points when you level up |
| Four Traditions (道佛墨儒): sources of moves | Which moves you know | Learned in the world: teachers, manuals, practice, quests, kata chips. Never on the level-up screen |
The Three Treasures
- Essence (精), the Inner Physique skill: moves that work through the body.
- Energy (气), the Energy Manipulation skill: moves that project force outward.
- Mind (神), the Psychological Power skill: moves that act on the mind.
The Four Traditions
| Tradition | Style | Where to learn it |
|---|---|---|
| Taoist 道 | Flow and balance | Xuanmen Abbey |
| Buddhist 佛 | Body and stillness | The Vajra Court |
| Mohist 墨 | Mechanism and force | The Mohist Workshop |
| Confucian 儒 | Mind and presence | Minglun Academy |
You prepare a limited set of moves when you sleep or meditate. You can mix moves from several traditions, but mixed moves cost more and hit softer.
Qinggong
Qinggong (轻功) uses Force for leaps, wall-runs and safe falls, which matters a great deal in a city built down a shaft.
